Our Story Who we are

YLNOS was founded by Jen and Roger, brought together by a shared passion for movement, balance, and mindful living.

Jen, a certified yoga instructor, discovered yoga in 2020 and found its ability to bring calm and grounding to a life always in motion. Roger, with a background in science and personal training, contributed a deep understanding of strength, discipline, and the body in motion.

Their love for travel, fitness, and design inspired them to create YLNOS — a brand built on artistry, intention, and quality. More than just yoga products, YLNOS carries their vision forward — creating pieces that are as functional as they are beautiful, supporting a practice rooted in mindfulness.

The Beginning

YLNOS began with a simple idea: to create yoga products that combine quality, longevity, and a higher standard of design. Pieces designed to be valued and cared for.

As a yoga instructor, Jen saw firsthand how many mats and accessories fell short of expectations in durability, function, or design.

Recognizing this gap, Roger devoted himself to the craft and eventually leaving his job to fully immerse in design. He studied creative software and explored yoga culture in depth, channeling this knowledge into meaningful artwork for our yoga mats and the refined, practical design of our mat carriers.

For us, YLNOS is more than products — it’s quality you can trust, artistry you can feel, and intention behind every choice.

What is "YLNOS"?

YLNOS originates from the middle name of co-founder Roger. His middle name is Son Ly, and when the letters are reversed, it forms YLNOS.

Years ago, Roger once asked his uncle about the meaning behind his name. He was told that “Son,” in Sino-Vietnamese, means mountain. After his uncle later passed away, that meaning began to carry a deeper significance, becoming a quiet reminder of legacy, grounding, and strength.

A mountain represents stillness and stability. It stands rooted, unmoving, and enduring.

When reflecting on this meaning, another image naturally came to mind. The opposite of a mountain is a river. Where a mountain is firm and grounded, a river is fluid. It moves, adapts, and continues its path forward.

Together, these two forces reflect the essence of both yoga and life. Strength and flow. Stability and movement. Grounding and adaptability.

Our Logo

Rather than translating the name YLNOS directly into Japanese characters, we chose to express the deeper philosophy behind the brand.

At the center of our logo is the Japanese character , which means flow.

Flow represents the natural rhythm of life and practice. It reflects the way breath moves through the body, the way movement transitions from one posture to the next, and the way we learn to move with change rather than resist it.

Surrounding the character is an enso.

The enso is a traditional Zen symbol drawn in a single brushstroke. It represents wholeness, presence, and the beauty of imperfection. In Zen philosophy, the enso is often created in one breath, capturing a moment of mindfulness and authenticity.

Together, the character and the enso embody the philosophy of YLNOS.

Acknowledgement of the Country

YLNOS acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and create — the Dharawal, Dharug, and Eora peoples. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all First Nations peoples.

We recognise their enduring connection to land, waters, and culture, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.

We honour this Country with gratitude and a commitment to move forward with respect, awareness, and intention.
